在全球人口高齡化之下，長期照護已成為當代趨勢。有鑑於日本高齡長期照護品質聞名遐邇， 常開照護之先驅，為使學生能有更開闊的長期照護國際觀， 擬計畫讓學生赴日本社會福祉法人近江ふるさと会學習， 該機構為民間長期照護機構，曾被指定為全國優良民間設施。 赴日之學生除了將在校所學之護理專業知能運用於機構住民照護外， 同時希望對日本長期照護制度及高齡長者之照護模式有更深一層的了解， 透過服務學習的機會，提升護理專業素養及競爭力。

In view of the well-known quality of long-term care for the elderly in Japan and the pioneer of long-term care, in order to enable students to have a broader international view of long-term care, it is planned to have students study at Omi Furusato Association, a Japanese social welfare corporation. This institution is a private long-term care institution and has been designated as a national excellent private facility. In addition to apply the nursing professional knowledge, they have learned in school to institutional residential care, students who go to Japan also hope to have a deeper understanding of Japan's long-term care system and the care model of the elderly, so as to enhance their nursing professional literacy and competitiveness through service-learning opportunities.

日本滋賀縣彥根市的近江ふるさと園，門口可以欣賞一望無際的琵琶湖， 四周有群山圍繞，環境優美空氣清新，是一處適合老年人安養晚年的地方。 近江故鄉園共分為2個園區，第1園區分成A~E棟，目前共4棟有長者入住， 其中分為長期與短期，每棟住民人數約8~35人不等，共計有136位住民入住。 第2園區主要住民為身心障礙者與失能的長者為主。
